Geotechnical investigations
Geotechnical investigations are being undertaken between Kedron and Carseldine to inform the next stage of planning for the Gympie Road Bypass project.
Investigations will be carried out by specialist contractors to obtain information about existing sub-surface soil, rock and groundwater conditions.
Investigations timing and locations
Dates: Late March to early August 2025 (weather and site conditions permitting)
Times: 7am-5pm weekdays, excluding public holidays
Locations: In council parklands, road corridor, and state or council-owned land between the suburbs of Kedron and Carseldine.
Investigations are expected to take up to eight days to complete at each location. Residents and businesses situated near site investigation locations will receive direct notification via their letterbox throughout the geotechnical investigations period.
Key information
During these works, residents, businesses and road users near the worksite may notice:
- specialist contractors using handheld monitoring equipment and cables
- a temporary exclusion zone around the work site
- temporary traffic control and signage to direct road users around the works, as required to ensure the safety of the local community
- a drilling rig, a water truck and light commercial vehicles at the work site, which will depart at the end of each workday.
Every effort will be made to minimise impacts on the local community. However, there may be some minor noise and low levels of vibration while works are in progress.
NBI thank you for your patience and co-operation during these works
Ecology survey investigations
Ecology survey investigations were undertaken at various locations, including public parks and waterways, along the Gympie Road corridor and surrounding areas between the suburbs of Kedron and Carseldine between December 2024 and February 2025.
The purpose of the surveys was to identify and understand the flora and fauna species present within the project corridor.
The survey findings will assist with ongoing project planning and inform environmental considerations and approval requirements.
